Blue Dogs Announce Support for Former Rep. Charlie Wilson’s 2012 Congressional Bid

Washington, D.C. – The Blue Dog PAC has announced their endorsement and support of former Representative Charlie Wilson’s entry into the 2012 Congressional election. Rep. Wilson will be running to represent what is currently Ohio’s 6thCongressional District in southeastern Ohio. Wilson represented the 6th District from 2007 – 2010.

“Congress needs more leaders like Charlie Wilson, and the Blue Dogs could not be more excited that he has decided to run for election once again,” said Rep. Jim Matheson, co-chair of the Blue Dog PAC. “Charlie has always put the long-term interests of our nation ahead of partisan agendas, and that is a trait sadly missing from Congress today. The Blue Dogs look forward to working with him to instill fiscal discipline to our federal budget.”

Ohio’s 6th District will likely stretch from Mahoning County southward along the Ohio River to Scioto County.

“Charlie Wilson has been a strong and consistent voice for the working families of Ohio and across our nation,” said Rep. Dennis Cardoza, co-chair of the Blue Dog PAC.  “As a small business owner, Charlie understands the importance of balanced budgets and efficient, streamlined operations. Congress has benefitted from his experiences before and certainly can benefit from that knowledge now.”

Wilson is the first former Blue Dog member to announce plans to run for election in 2012. There are currently 25 members of the Blue Dog Coalition.
