Blue Dogs Endorse Pete Gallego for Congress
Washington, D.C. – The Blue Dog Coalition PAC announced today that it has endorsed Pete Gallego in Texas’s 23rd Congressional District.
“In the Texas State House, Pete Gallego has been a strong and steady voice for fiscal responsibility and for finding bipartisan solutions to the challenges facing American families,” said Jim Matheson, Chair of the Blue Dog PAC. “As a member of the Texas House and Senate Budget Conference Committee, Pete has made the tough decisions to balance the state’s budget, and as a small business owner, he knows the challenges of meeting expenses. I know he will be a strong voice for fiscal responsibility and an advocate for our small businesses. The Blue Dogs are proud to endorse him today.”
Gallego was first elected to the Texas House in 1990 and has been recognized for his willingness and ability to work toward bipartisan solutions. He has served as an Assistant Attorney General in Texas, as well as a prosecutor in west Texas.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Blue Dog Coalition today,” Gallego said. “I look forward to working with the entire Blue Dog Coalition to responsibly balance the federal budget and to reduce the national debt while protecting future generations.”
Founded in 1995, the 24 conservative and moderate Democrats of the Blue Dog Coalition represent the sensible center of American politics. Members come from every region of the nation. Blue Dogs advocate for mainstream American values, a commitment to fiscal responsibility, and a strong national defense.
Gallego joins nine other active candidates who have received the Blue Dog’s endorsement for the 2012 election cycle.
